That scene was the first bit of Torchwood I watched. I knew nothing about the characters or the context, but I was pretty much disgusted with Gwen's character. The sad thing is, I've never been able to shake that perception of her. Intellectually, I know there's more to her character, that she has plenty of positive characteristics. But, yeah.

I watched them in order and that is unfortunately one of the scenes that stands out in my mind. Most of the time I just think she's flat and boring and the writers are engaging in a lot of 'tell but not show' practices when it comes to her character, but that scene made me *really* mad at her.
