Fall TV stuff
Okay so once we're into 2008 what am I going to watch on TV (besides Torchwood since it starts up soon). I mean VotD on Christmas and the Robin Hood finale a couple days later but after that...with the writers on strike?
So, with pretty much all my shows on indefinite hiatus until the networks make nice I guess I'll do a wrap up of my shows from this fall.
Heroes:
Well, I didn't dislike it as much as a lot of people seemed to, but it did seem to have a fair amount of sophomore slump. The magic and mystery of the first season was lacking here, and the driving tension towards the end never clicked (it didn't help that there were so many separate climaxes at the end)). I'm not done with the show yet but they did make several big errors with this season (half season...whatever). I do hope they learn from them for volume 3.
Journeyman:
I don't know if anyone else here was watching this, I only started about 2/3 of the way through the episodes, but it's actually really good. It's got a rather episodic structure, but there is a carry-through on character arcs so that's good. I hope NBC doesn't dump this show because I want to see more of it.
Pushing Daisies:
Thanks to all the people who kept pestering me to give this show a try. It is so very very cute and so much fun and all kinds of good. I'm going to miss these folks so much and hope they come back soon.
Ugly Betty:
I think this show worked better for me when I was watching it quickly and seeing the plots ongoing. I think the slight disinterest I had with this season is mostly owed to that. It wasn't that I didn't like it, I just wasn't as engrossed as I was by season 1, when I was able to watch it straight through.
The Office:
I do love some shmoopy-ness so while some people complained about the Jim/Pam stuff this season I was just fine with it. I do think most of the hour long episodes would have been better just super-sized (or better written to fill out the hour) but I don't have any real complaints about it.
Scrubs:
This season hasn't really gelled for me yet, I hope it gets the chance to. It also may suffer from being at the end of my Thursday night viewing so my head's just not in it as much.
Friday Night Lights:
But...how is the football season going to go if I can't see any more of this? How will I ever know how the team does or the resolution to any of the plots (except the killing plot, I suspect I could live with that being over)? And yes I do know that I lead off whining about football.
Brothers and Sisters:
I'm going to miss them too, this suffered less loss of interest than Ugly Betty for going from fast view to weekly viewing I will say that. Although I think it will hold until whenever things are worked out, I am going to miss this.
Now I'm still deciding if it is wise to escape Doctor Who fandom into obsessing over Robin Hood, it's rotting my brain I tell you.
