A new TV rundown

TV run down of the week

Downton Abbey 6x02
Still good, a little obvious in places but still good. I think I waited bit long to jot down my thoughts as I think I had a couple but I just remember the very general review. Or maybe I didn’t have much to say at all.

The Muppets 1x02
Felt about the same as last week, that it’s okay but I’m not sure it’s really for me. I think I’ll try one more week in real time before scaling back and seeing if watching it in chunks instead of weekly episodes works better for me.

Castle 8x02
On one hand I always like the big plots so I’m glad to get a return to that; on the other, this is bullshit, show. I don’t even see how they can keep it up, Kate and Rick not together is not going to work for the show. But I do like the Rick and Alexis teamwork, I meant to mention that last week but it still applies now, so that’s something. It was a good episode, I just don’t see where it’s going and am almost always against needless relationship drama like this.

Agents of SHIELD 3x01
So at least this one I watched on schedule, don’t know if I’ll continue that. As expected, the Skye (and I have decided to oppose this Daisy thing) stuff was easily the least interesting aspect of it, although the big picture stuff with the Inhumans might still work. I don’t even like Lincoln, but his reaction to events last season is a lot more interesting to me than Skye caving in and going by Daisy because her sucky parents wanted her to regress to that. Also it wasn’t until I watched the preview that I realized that was Jemma in the end; how’s that for face blindness? But Coulson and Fitz had some really good stuff, especially at the end, so it ended well enough even if over all I’m not impressed. Looked like May was in the preview for next week so maybe that will help, and looked focused more on the search for Simmons so again might be looking up, but have to wait and see, and next week I get my more looked forward to superhero shows back.

Once Upon a Time 5x01
I can’t remember if I said this at the end of last season or not, but this feels very much like a last season plot to me. The final big bad of this saga is the hero themselves and all that. And if it was going to be the end (which I doubt) and would end up being well executed (which I really doubt) I could see value in going to this point with the story. The show has already lost any shred of optimism I had that it would be a well told story with this jump forward and memory loss again instead of letting the drama play out as it happened...plus a lot of other shit that happened this episode didn’t work for me either, but the big one is the end. I ended up not watching it right away even this episode and I can’t see being in any more of a rush for the next one, I’m at quasi-hatewatching already, about to lose doing that week to week, and who knows how long any of it will last at this point (you never know, I’ve said most of that before and it keeps hanging on).

I haven’t gotten to Heroes Reborn or Saving Hope (again), but it’s time to start a new week.
