RH 3x10 delayed thoughts

So I guess I don’t feel like doing a full on reaction post to this ep, and as is since I didn’t do it soon after watching my reactions have kind of gotten mixed up. This in not to say I won’t end up writing another epic reply on [livejournal.com profile] corrielle's review, because I suspect I might.

The bullet points reaction post:

-Guy is very very attractive in the ep.

-The totally breaks continuity, however I kind of think it works with consistent characterization, if not established fact.

-Based on math, we can place Izzy at 10 in the flashback (Married at 13, married for 17 years, this takes place 20 years ago), I guess the other ages should be figured accordingly. I however, am crap at figuring ages without math and as such have little idea.

--Kid-Robin is an annoying and had a massive ego, and kid-Guy is emo, see what I meant about working with characterization?

-I think they went a bit far with the Robin-Marian-Guy triangle parallels especially since there’s a key difference, Ghislaine actually seemed to love both men whereas Marian…didn’t. She cared for Guy, and he loved her like crazy (emphasis on the crazy) but she didn’t love him. I ship the two like mad but I can’t quite take that canon fact away. Oh, mentally write, and love other people’s fic that gets the relationship to grow out of that, I’m all over, but as things were, she didn’t.

-Shut up Robin, you have every right not to forgive Guy for killing Marian, he hasn’t forgiven himself, but to pretend he hasn’t shown remorse for it…wait a minute, didn’t you totally taunt him about it earlier in the season “That pain you’re feeling now won’t go away” and all that? Shut it slut-boy.

-I’m not sure I get why Robin kind of warms to Guy when he finds out Guy killed Vasey, but it kind of works I guess. Of course Robin doesn’t know about the complicated backstory of trying to get Guy to kill Vasey before, or even the whys about why he did do it now, so maybe that explains it.

-It’s slightly shaming, but I did get a small shipper squee anytime kid-Robin and kid-Izzy were an screen together even though there wasn’t any interaction (difficult when she’s not speaking).

-Um, was the bit with Robin, the bow, and the light from heaven *meant* to be hysterical? Because it was, and everything kid-Robin did after that was also very funny.

-I’m fully prepared to hate Archer, but expect him to be hot anyway.

-Is it just that I’m a Guy-girl or does the last bit with Guy offering Robin a hand up say tons more about Guy than Robin? Or you know, it could have to do with the fact that Guy’s actions to Robin this year have been consistent where as Robin’s to Guy really haven’t. So Guy’s gesture to bury the hatchet comes as a turn of conscience, but for Robin it just seems like oh course he’ll accept a hand up.

-I’m not going to get my hopes up for next week, but I really want it to be awesome, because GUY WITH THE OUTLAWS, under most writing teams I’d think it *had* to rock, but the RH writers do not get that kind respect, particularly after this week.

-So my post episode fic idea for this one (which I’ll probably never write but throwing it out there) involves Guy and Izzy running to Nottingham, having an audience with Sheriff Edward, running into Marian about say age four, and Edward for some reason not about to help the little Gizzys, I haven’t worked out the why there, but the important part being little-Guy and little-Maz interaction.

-And because it bears saying again, Guy was really hot.
