Heroes quick thoughts
Still don't know what number we're on, but quick thoughts on tonight's episode:
(I'm having fun do this a A->B->C...)
-Oh Sylar and Elle, I'd feel sorry for you if you hadn't totally earned it (and weren't almost guaranteed to survive anyway), you set Papa Bear loose on your asses.
-On that matter, I still *like* Sylar/Elle and it still surprises me and have no clear idea why (but ain't that the way with Heroes ships, I don't really know why I pick the ships I do Paire I'm looking at you).
-Now speaking of ships, I really don't like Matt/Daphne, I don't buy it *at all* (if I had done my quick thoughts last week I probably would have ranted about it a lot more, but I guess I'm not in the mood tonight).
-Onto Daphne, I'm not totally sure how being a speedster fixed her need for leg braces but it does do a decent job explaining why she didn't want to go back to that. I think I do like Daphne after all this, but not Matt/Daphne.
-The one phrase ten year old Hiro knows in English "holy crap" yeah...Kaito must have like to swear in English (kind of like I prefer to swear in British).
-The comics were a creative device in season 1, they aren't any more. That's Hiro following a script and I find that to be a cop out (and makes me want to slap Steven Moffat for only loosely connected reasons).
-Okay, I'll admit that Hiro and Ando just showing up was fun, but that's not enough to justify relying on the comic book script again.
-Dead end on that train
-Would it kill the writers to check their own canon? Of the newest round of powers most of them came about at least months before the eclipse (Nathan flew out of the car crash which I just remembered they *showed* in the flashback episode two weeks ago. Even if we ignore Claire healing 6MA, she was attempt number 6 at killing herself before the eclipse showed up. Nicki/Jessica had framed DL a while before. Sylar started killing months (of maybe weeks if you take the Villains timeline) before the eclipse happened, and that's just the ones I can think about off the top of my head). Le sigh.
-I suppose I can buy that eclipses mess with heroes powers, but I have a hard time thinking no one has noticed it before.
-In fact if I had my way the eclipse and it's effects would be hidden from future vision and that would have been freaking out the folks with prophesy for a while, not knowing what was going to happen. I know I've read/seen that plot device somewhere before (a nexus around which the future hinges and no one knows how it's going to go) but it feels like it still would have been more interesting (later note, oh like say RTD and CE's The Second Coming, steal from the best Heroes people).
-Of course this from the person who is just desperate for Heroes to take a leap and make something...big happen to the world of Heroes. Like coming out of the super powered closet after all this teasing with the future.
-Peter's reactions to the future he saw (see what I did there) are annoying me. He's not taking it as something to learn from and figure out how to prevent, he's just holding it against people in the present
-Watching Peter and Nathan fall into the lake amused me, it probably shouldn't have but it totally did.
-Was I the only one who thought Noah broke Sylar's back in the fight? I probably was one of the very few who hoped so.
-Just general Hurray for Noah and Claire re-bonding, and him agreeing to train her. They're still my favorite relationship on the show (particularly of the non shippy variety).
-And yay for Sandra standing up for Claire, both in helping her and then not wanting Noah to go, sure I'm glad he went off to (hopefully) kill Sylar and Elle anyway, but Sandra's pretty cool.
-For anyone who has forgotten I'd totally watch The Bennet Family Hour if they made that what the show was about. Forget everyone else (Peter and Nathan can come and visit sometimes), give me the Bennets.
