I've been burned by ships in the past so much that I'm always on the lookout for danger.
I've been burned plenty, even though I barely touch on that aspect in this rant, it was a huge factor in my being a Doctor/Rose shipper, my early resistance and my later caution, and my still present concerns. I'm slow to trust TV portrayals of romance anymore, and I'm about as likely as not going to hate the show's "it" couple (hey I try and be nice to the non-shippers, I've been there).
what surprises me now is that that line occured in episode 5. And I totally bought it.
Yeah, how early they lay their cards on the table like that always surprises me, and that I not only bought it, I took it, hook, line, and sinker. As early as it was it just felt...right. And it actually *went forward* from there rather than pretending it never happened.
Not to mention that my roommate, who totally didn't ship D/R with 10 (she said Rose loved the Doctor more than he did her), is now shipping them like crazy since watching S3.
Yeah, season 3 is kind of a drawback to the idea the he didn't love and need her isn't it? He's so lost without her, I don't know how anyone could still claim he wasn't completely gone on her.
I hope you don't mind, but I'm friending you! I love your posts
