Kat and Elijah have both seriously messed each other up and there's no evidence they've really ever forgiven each other for it, certainly not before this and I don't really feel like this shows in any way that they have.

If Elijah getting Elena to turn her humanity back on didn't happen this week I'm not confidant he will next time, but I'm not adverse to it happening at all.
