It's especially difficult writing fic for a show like this, unless it's during a hiatus, where there' never any pause in the story. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's still like November in show time and the entire season happened in 2-3 months. Nothing has time to brew and simmer or any cooking metaphor you like, stuff just keeps happening and getting piled on.
Part of the point of this is that there *is* plenty of drama to be had in taking time to breathe. If you let characters actually feel things instead of just moving on to the next pile of shit falling on them. (I have some issues with TVD's style of storytelling clearly. It's a good thing I love...enough of the characters or I'd dwell on that fact more.)
I enjoy commentaries too. I mostly buy dvds for the special features, so I also enjoy it when this type of meme comes around and we get to share thoughts with other fic writers/readers about the thought process involved. So I'm glad you liked it (fic and commentary).
