This is one of the best, possibly even the best, Elena/Elijah fics I've ever read.

I loved the tenderness of the last scenes and the connection between them, but even more than that did I love the early bits: the bitter stalemate, all the raw pain and the heartbreaking knowledge that the easy rapport they used to have had been shattered by what happened. It was utterly heartwrenching to read, but so, so good.
